We want this site to work for everyone who needs it. This page describes what we have actually built and tested — not what we aspire to.

Where we are

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We believe the site substantially conforms, based on our own testing. We have not commissioned an independent audit, so we describe this as a self-assessment rather than certified conformance.

Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act applies its web content requirements to public-sector organisations and to private organisations with 50 or more employees. As a sole proprietorship we are below that threshold, so this work is not a legal obligation for us. We do it because a site that excludes people is a badly built site.

What we have done

Semantic HTML throughout, so structure is conveyed to assistive technology rather than implied visually.
A skip link to jump past navigation straight to the main content.
Keyboard access to every interactive element, with a visible focus outline that meets contrast requirements.
Colour contrast meeting or exceeding WCAG AA for all text, verified against the site's colour tokens.
Text alternatives for meaningful images. Purely decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
prefers-reduced-motion support. If your system requests reduced motion, all scroll-linked animation stops and the page renders in its resolved, static state. No motion is required to understand any content.
No motion that flashes, strobes or auto-plays with sound.
Works without JavaScript. All content and navigation is readable and usable with scripts disabled; animation is an enhancement, never a requirement.
Resizable text. Layouts use relative units and reflow without loss of content up to 200% zoom.
Labelled form fields, with errors reported in text rather than by colour alone.
No cookie banner or interstitial to trap keyboard focus, because we set no cookies.

Known limitations

We would rather list these than claim perfection:

No independent audit has been carried out. Our testing is our own.
No formal screen reader testing has been carried out yet. The site is built to work with assistive technology — semantic structure, text alternatives, keyboard operation — but we have not verified that with VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS. We would rather say so than imply testing that has not happened. If you use a screen reader and something does not work, telling us is genuinely the fastest route to it being fixed.
The chrome imagery is decorative. It carries a text alternative describing what it depicts, but the operational meaning it conveys is always also stated in the surrounding text, so nothing is lost if you cannot see it.
Third-party form handling. The enquiry form submits through Formspree. We control the form markup, but not their confirmation or error pages.
Downloadable documents may not yet be fully tagged for accessibility.
